St. Francis of Assisi

St. Francis of Assisi, Wolfville, Nova Scotia

The first church was built in Gaspereau in 1853, where the cemetary is still in use. It was destroyed by fire in 1875. The present St. Francis, was build in Wolfville in 1883, by Canon Walsh at his own expense, and was blessed by Archbishop Hannan. A Mission of Windsor, the Altar-piece, the Stations and the furniture were salvaged from the Windsor church when it was destroyed by fire. In 1915, St. Francis became a Mission of St. Joseph's, Kentville, but, in 1959, was made a separate Parish.
