Saint Phillip

St. Phillip's, Barrington, Nova Scotia

Due to the establishment of the Armed Forces Base at Baccaro and the influx of the large number of Roman Catholic families in the Barrington District, it was necessary that a church be provided to serve them as well as the local residents. Land was purchased and the church erected under the leadership of Rev. Clarence Thibeau, Pastor at Shelburne, who celebrated the first Mass in St. Phillip's on September 12, 1965. The church was formally blessed and dedicated by H.E. Bishop Burke on July 4, 1968. St. Phillip's is a Mission of Shelburne.
